Marc Flur

Senior Consultant, Individual Advisor

Marc Flur has been in the Financial Services industry since 1993, and has been a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) since 1998.
Marc joined The Benefit Planning Group (BPG) in 2005. He is BPG’s dedicated consultant to Duke University, and assists physicians from residency to retirement. He specializes in assisting his clients in holistic financial planning and asset and income protection.

As a result of his longstanding work in the physician financial marketplace, Marc is regularly asked to speak to groups of medical students, residents, and attending physicians. He speaks on topics such as income protection, loan management, practice protection, and financial planning philosophies.

A native of Burlington, Vermont, Marc came to Duke University in 1979 and joined the varsity tennis team as a “walk on,” quickly working his way into a full scholarship. An All-America selection, Marc was inducted into the Duke Sports Hall of Fame in 1995 as the first and currently only male tennis player to achieve this recognition.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from Duke in 1983, Marc traveled the world for six years on the ATP tour. He competed in all of the Grand Slam tournaments, and reached a career high world ranking of #71 in singles and #67 in doubles.

Marc retired from the professional tennis tour in 1988 and attended the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He currently resides in Durham with his wife, Stacey (Duke ’83). They have two children, Lia (Wake Forest ’11) and Adam (Duke ’13).
